KUCHING: Datuk Wee Hong Seng has urged entrepreneurs to embrace innovation, expand their horizons, and seize opportunities beyond their borders.

The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor said by venturing into international markets, entrepreneurs can elevate their businesses while proudly representing the ingenuity and resilience of Sarawakian entrepreneurship.

“Companies like Leaves Food Industries Sdn Bhd and Hornbill Agriculture Sdn Bhd serve as prime examples of innovation, particularly in production, marketing, procurement, and financial management,” he said.

In today’s globalised landscape, he said, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) face the challenge of leveraging exponential growth in world markets and expansive business opportunities.

“To capitalise on this potential, SMEs must continuously strengthen their capacity to produce high-quality products and services at internationally competitive prices.

“Recognising the importance of SMEs to evolve their mindsets, our government encourages transformative measures such as updating business models and adopting cutting-edge technologies,” Wee added.

He was speaking during a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between both companies at Taka Patisserie here today.

On the MoU, Wee said the partnership signifies more than a mere contractual agreement as it represents the pinnacle of innovation and collaboration.

“It underscores our collective commitment to fostering an environment conducive to robust business growth and the holistic well-being of our community.

“Together, we reaffirm our shared vision for a sustainable future grounded in mutual respect and responsible stewardship,” he stated.

Wee was confident that both local and international audiences will savour the diverse range of Sarawakian products, adding further that the MoU signifies its unwavering commitment to growth and sustainability, showcasing the immense potential of local enterprises to thrive on the global stage.

For the record, the MoU between will set Leave Food Industries to integrate Hornbill’s sustainability cultivated Calamansi into its popular beverage.

The initiative not only supports local agriculture but also embodies the principles of sustainability ensuring that actions today do not compromise the needs of future generations.
