Agreement to spark dairy farming interest

KUCHING: Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Farm Fresh Bhd (FFB) are continuing their collaboration to further develop an Edutourism Centre.

In a statement UPM said the centre was to increase the interest of students to venture into the dairy farming industry.

The signing of a memorandum of agreement (MoA), on Monday (March 20) would nurture the students love towards agriculture, it added.

Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, attended the MoA ceremony held at the Industrial Centre of Excellence, Farm Fresh at UPM.

The strategic collaboration strengthens teaching and learning activities revolving around the dairy farming, as well as supporting research and innovation efforts.

UPM Vice Chancellor Datuk Proffessor Dr Mohd Roslan Sulaiman said it covers teaching and learning, research and innovation, student entrepreneurship activities as well as related skills training for UPM staff and students.

Meanwhile, Group Chief Operating Officer of Farm Fresh Berhad Azmi Zainal said the collaboration will allow students to undergo industrial training and gain experience at Farm Fresh Berhad as well as prepare to compete in the work sector.
