KUCHING: A total of sixteen online entrepreneurs received assistance from Samariang assemblywoman, Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali last Sunday (Mar 21).

The constituency’s Youth Wing took proactive steps to help the entrepreneurs to empower their business following the transformation trend which focuses on online since the implementation of movement control order (MCO).

Sharifah Hasidah who is also Law, State-Federal Relations and Project Monitoring Assistant Minister expressed strong supports and welcomes the efforts taken by Youth Wing, especially as it involves giving assistance to those in need.

“We are aware that business activities no longer focus on face-to-face, and it is being held more online.

“This is actually good as it proves that our entrepreneurs have managed to successfully put their business based on the digital economy.

“Moreover, this is a good sign not only for the individual entrepreneur themselves but also to our local economic development,” she said during the symbolic ceremony for handing over of equipment to the online entrepreneurs at N7 Samariang service centre.

Among the equipment handed over to the online entrepreneurs are tripod lamp, banner, rack, mannequin and cash as required that was requested by the entrepreneurs themselves.

She hopes that assistance given will help and encourage the youths in her constituency to continue to progress in entrepreneurship.

At the same time, a symbolic handover ceremony of kiosk to traders was also presented by Sharifah Hasidah.

It is also one of the efforts by the constituency’s Youth Wing which was supported by the leaders of Youth sub-branch (Pemuda Ranting).

The kiosks will benefit approximately 26 roadside traders in the area, and it serves to provide encouragements to the traders in their efforts to generate income for their family during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Also present during the ceremony were Samariang branch vice-chief Datuk Seri Abdul Aziz Hassan, youth chief Syed Zyed Wan Asmawi, head of youth movement Arafan Annuar and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Samariang branch secretary Sulhie Salleh and exco members.
