BETONG: In conjunction with the Gawai Dayak celebration, a total of 2,068 aid recipients here will receive contributions.
Deputy Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Mohammad Razi Sitam announced that the total amount of the contribution would be RM206,800.
“The aim of these contributions is to alleviate the burdens faced by the recipients during the festive occasion,” he said during the Sejambak Kasih Gawai event held yesterday (May 21).
In addition to financial assistance, the Social Welfare Department (JKM) also provided medical aid to the village residents. “Those in need can apply for this assistance to alleviate their medical expenses.”
During the ceremony, 100 aid recipients were also presented with hampers. Also present at the event were Deputy Minister for Youth, Sport and Entrepreneur Development as well as Layar assemblyman Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu, deputy Betong Division Resident Mahra Salleh, and Betong JKM officer Abd Samad Kassim.
