BAU: Local police arrested a man for alleged involvement in illegal lottery sales in Kampung Peninjau Lama, Siniawan on Saturday (Sept 25).

The arrest during ‘Ops Dadu’ was done by the district police around 6.30pm at a parking lot in the village.

Bau police chief DSP Poge Nyaon, who confirmed the case, said the team detained the 36-year-old suspect for questioning as he was believed to be selling lotteries.

“A piece of paper filled with what appeared to be lottery numbers, a sum of cash, a phone and a portable printer, were seized from him.

“Both the man and the seized items were taken to the police station,” he told.

The suspect who does not have any past criminal record, will be investigated under Section 4A (a) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953.

If convicted, the suspect is liable to be fined up to RM200,000 or jailed up to five years.
