MIRI: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) has expressed regret over the recent call by Umno Youth for a boycott of KK Mart following controversy surrounding the sale of socks bearing the word ‘Allah’.

Its Youth Publicity and Information Secretary , Kelvin Hii, stressed the need for a rational approach and a focus on people’s harmony.

Hii reminded that since KK Mart has publicly apologised, the matter should not be exaggerated so as to avoid stoking public anger and resentment.

He pointed out that in the past, the political atmosphere in the country often sought support through negative emotions, a practice that should be stopped.

Political platforms should be used to propose policies that promote national progress and encourage tolerance, care, and harmonious coexistence among people, he said.

Only through a harmonious society can a better international image be established.

Sarawak is currently experiencing robust development, with stable politics and harmonious coexistence among its people being among the most important factors, Hii said.

“People are focusing on local development and problem-solving, respecting each other and living peacefully, which has led to significant progress and prosperity in Sarawak in recent years,” he added.

Thus, Hii said the controversy involving KK Mart should not be further amplified.

He hoped that everyone would approach the matter rationally and resolve it through reconciliation and coordination, promoting social harmony and stability.
