MIRI: Tourism, Art and Culture Assistant Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin has vowed to make Miri a city of art and culture as part of his ministry’s efforts to woo tourists.

He made the pledge during the launch of Association of Artistes and Visual Arts Miri (PPSVM) at Pustaka Miri on Saturday.

“I believe with the formation of this association, it would help to further develop and promote tourism activities more effectively.

“Miri is a unique city in Sarawak because it is home to all the 27 different ethnic groups in the state,” he said, adding that PPSVM would help to further develop art and cultural activities to woo tourists to Miri.

He added that the state government though his ministry has always been supportive of any non-governmental organisation (NGO) that helps to promote the local tourism industry.
