SIBU: A 49-year-old man was today (Apr 26) charged in the Sessions Court with attempted murder using a shotgun.

However, Tie Teck Ka, 49, claimed trial after the charge was read to him before Judge Marutin Pagan.

He and another suspect still at large stand accused of shooting one Collin Hii Keng Ming, 40, with the knowledge that such act may cause death.

The incident was alleged to have taken place at the open car park of Cafe Selalo at Paradom between 5.04pm and 5.06pm on Mar 15, 2020.

The offence is listed under Section 307 of the Penal Code read together with Section 34 which upon conviction provides for up to 20 years’ imprisonment.

Marutin granted the accused bail of RM5,000 with one surety and scheduled pre-trial case management for June 14.
