KUCHING: Sarawak is setting a shining example of a developed state for the rest of the country to emulate through its unity. Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said Sarawak is reflecting the concept of ‘unity in diversity’ where it has proven that the people have a strong spirit of unity regardless of their background differences and location. “That is why Sarawak is an example of a developed state where its people are united,” he said when speaking at a luncheon with Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) leaders at Waterfront Hotel here today (April 2). He said it is important for the nation to have political stability in ensuring that all the development plans could be implemented. Muhyiddin went on to say that the efforts in ensuring that Sarawak continues to develop is a ‘total commitment’ by the PN federal government, not a ‘half-hearted’ effort.  “This is because we know that Sarawak could be the major contributor to the growth of economy, social, education and development plans as well as a clear vision and direction coinciding with the government’s ‘Wawasan Kemakmuran Bersama’ (WKB) 2030 and Sarawak’s future development direction in the next 10 years.  “Look at Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and I … we think together, we have the same ideals and we have the same vision to make sure that this region of Sarawak and Malaysia must move forward to be a developed region and a developed country,” he added. Also present during the luncheon were federal ministers from the GPS namely, Senior Minister of Works Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof; Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar; Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi; and Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri. We’ll help ensure stability in Putrajaya

KUCHING: Sarawak will play its part to ensure political stability in the country. The reassurance came from Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg who said only when there is a stable government would the nation be peaceful. Otherwise, the nation would be affected. “In Sarawak, of course we have our own formula and our own culture. “If Sarawak continues to be stable like this, the Malaysian government would also be stable. That, you can count on me,” he told Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at a luncheon with Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) leaders at Waterfront Hotel here today (April 2). “If Sarawak becomes kucar kacir (a mess), then the federal government would also be affected. “But so far, the GPS government made up of Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), Progressive Democratic Party (PDP), Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), is in the same direction. “When the state is peaceful, we will be able to assist the federal government in terms of administration of the country and the implementation of inclusivity-based policies,” he added. Abang Johari pointed out that the prime minister is well aware of the state’s development situation, to which he said the man would do his best to ensure that Sarawak would be well developed. “I think he wants to protect what there is in Sarawak. After all, Sarawak is his second home,” he said.
