KANOWIT: Local contractors should carry out their work responsibly and stick to the designated scope of work laid down by the implementing agencies, Ngemah Assemblyman Anyi Jana said.

At the same time he also advise them, especially the Bumiputeras contractors in Kanowit, not engage in ‘Ali Baba’ practises.

‘Ali Baba’ business is a practise in which a local company wins a contract under the government-sponsored affirmative action for Bumiputeras but these businessmen subcontracts the work to another company.

As such, Anyi hoped Bumiputeras can execute and complete their projects independently, saying that it is essential for every contractor to work closely with the implementing agencies and the parties receiving the project.

He added that without cooperation from all parties, the implementation of any project would be delayed and could result in a failed project.

He was officiating at the annual general meeting of the Kanowit Bumiputera Contractors Association at the Kanowit District Office recently.
