MIRI: In conjunction with Awal Muharram today, Senadin assemblyman Datuk Lee Kim Shin handed over minor project grants to two mosques and a surau here.

The recipients were Masjid Abu Bakar As-Siddiq Desa Senadin, Masjid Darul Ehsan Piasau Jaya and Surau Darul Ikhlas Kampung Senadin Jaya.

Earlier in April this year, when Lee visited Masjid Abu Bakar As-Siddiq Desa Senadin, the committee sought his help to tar-seal the car park of the new mosque in addition to providing some assistance for minor works.

Lee then requested the Public Works Department (JKR) to help work out the budget.

During his visit today, he announced that the project would start tomorrow (Aug 11) under a corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme. He added that DAL HCM, a JKR concessionaire, would carry out the project as the company’s contribution.

The RM60,000 project is expected to take three weeks to complete.

Lee, who is also Transport Minister, thanked the company for its CSR contribution.

Also present were JKR engineers, Tay Sian Tuan and Siti Norshafiza Mohd Sapiee as well as several mosque committee members.

On hand to receive the minor grant at Masjid Darul Ehsan Piasau Jaya was its chairman, Temenggong Datuk Abdul Rahman Abang Fadzail. The event was witnessed by KK Abdul Rahman and other committee members.

They thanked Lee for his continuous support.

Abdul Rahman said the mosque was sanitised twice daily and that it had been adhering to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) laid down by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

As for Surau Darul Ikhlas Kampung Senadin Jaya, its chairman, Hamdani Bolhassan received the minor grant while KK Rahmah Hamdan and others looked on.

Lee also took the opportunity to wish all Muslims present ‘Selamat Menyambut Awal Muharram’.
