PADAWAN: A baker was killed in a fatal two-vehicle collision at the Jalan Batu Kawa-Jalan Ketitir traffic intersection today (Mar 21).

The accident, which happened around 12.50 am, involved a motorcycle and a multipurpose vehicle (MPV).

Padawan police chief Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad in a statement, said that the deceased was identified as Anthony Hiu Kuet Boo, 53, from Jalan Arang.

“The collision happened when Hiu, travelling on his motorcycle from MJC (Batu Kawa new township), suddenly made a right turn into Jalan Ketitir while the traffic light was red at the intersection.

“This action resulted in the MPV, travelling from Kuching to MJC at a green light, colliding with the deceased.

“The impact of the collision caused Hiu to be ejected onto the road and his motorcycle was dragged under the MPV to the left side of the road,” he said.

As a result, Hiu was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics and his body was taken to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for further procedures.
