KUCHING: The certificate basic course organised previously had been able to produce more women entrepreneurs in the Demak Laut area.

Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability, Dr Hazland Abang Hipni said the course, which is entering its sixth year, would always be improved.

“Each participant will be given a certificate that can be used to get assistance from organisations such as SEDC, MARA, TEKUN, Bank AGRO, Bank Rakyat.

“Previously, they needed to register their business in order to obtain a licence if they ever want to make it as their full- time career,” he said after presenting Melur Flower Arrangement Course certificates at Kampung Pinggan Jaya yesterday.

Some 30 women from Kampung Pinggan Jaya participated in the course.

Dr Hazland, who is also the Demak Laut assemblyman, added that in order to be a successful entrepreneur, one must also have a knowledge and background in business, especially in financial management.

“Entrepreneurs must also learn good financial administration in order to ensure that business is run in the proper way.
