KUCHING: The Benak Festival 2023 aim to welcome around 50,000 visitors to this year’s celebration.

Sri Aman’s Resident Abang Mohamad Porkan Abang Budiman, also the festival committee’s chairman, said that hosting this festival will help boost Sri Aman’s economy.

“Our main aim for this year’s festival is to enhance our tourism sector,” he told reporters after paying a courtesy call to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today (Sept 22).

Simanggang assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, who is also an advisor for the festival, hoped the event will attract more visitors, not just from within Sarawak but beyond.

About 46 teams will be participating in 372 events over 3 days from September 29 to October 1.
