BINTULU: Sarawak, truly multiracial! How else can one best describe the Land of the Hornbill?

For newlyweds Rona Abdul Biak, 32, and her better half Mohd Shahrin Risidi, 27, they couldn’t have chosen a better colour than red for their wedding photo shoot at the Tua Pek Kong Temple in Bintulu on Saturday.

Rona is an assistant manager with Ashtar Galactic Cinema and Mohd Shahrin, a technician with Petronas.

Rona said it never crossed their mind that they should have a photo shoot at the Chinese temple.

“It was just a random act by my husband. Since it will be Chinese New Year soon, we decided to have a photo session at the nearest Chinese temple.

“On top of that, we both love red very much. It’s just the right colour for our wedding reception,” she added.

Rona said that being Sarawakans, race or religion shouldn’t be an issue.

“Taking a wedding photo shoot at one of our town temples would be nice and we can show people that we are truly Malaysian.

“We can live in harmony and peace with people of different races and religions and celebrate the various festivals. That’s Sarawak style.

“My hubby and I wish all Chinese friends and Malaysians ‘Gong Xi Fa Cai’.
