Magistrate Noraine Ahmad presided over the case.

Wong, who operated a tailor shop at Tun Jugah Mall here, was reported missing by his wife on July 16. He was last seen getting into his car with a friend and another man that afternoon.

Three days later, his remains were found in a luggage underneath a bridge in Bau. The remains were found blindfolded with his hands and legs tied.

The decomposed body of Wong was brought to the morgue and identified by his wife through his clothing. That same night, police arrested two persons — Wong’s friend and Chong, in connection with the case. After questioning, Wong’s friend was released and the next day he was found hanging from a shop in Pending.

Police were interested to get hold of the deceased’s mobile phone which Sarawak CID chief SAC Denis Leong, who headed the case believed could shed some light on the motive of the murder.

He had his men combed through a river in Chawan Road here where the mobile phone was said to be flung. The phone was found on July 23.

Police are currently on the hunt for another suspect, Wong Chong Ming, aged 43 who is on the run. His last known address is Jalan Nangka, Pujut, Miri.
