KUCHING: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Bombardier CL-415 aircraft will depart for Subang Maritime Air Station for maintenance purposes today.

As of yesterday, two hotspots in Kuala Baram Sector 2 have been under control while the hotspots in Sector 3 have increased and thick smoke was visible.

Thus, it is expected that the Air Pollutant Index (API) will increase without the presence of rainfall. According to a statement during the operation yesterday, a total of five and a half hours of airtime with 246,000 litres were dropped during the water-bombing with 50 percent effectiveness.

The aircraft will depart for maintenance purposes and it is not known whether the aircraft will return to assist in the operation.
