KUCHING: The much-anticipated Book Build Legacy book donation drive is slated to unfold during the upcoming Jom Heboh Carnival from Jan 26 to 28 at the State Stadium here.

A collaborative effort between the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts, and Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak), the objective of the initiative is to collect 500 novels and reference books customised to the preferences of children and teenagers.

“This initiative aims to stock rural primary and secondary schools across Sarawak with literary treasures,” according to a recent press release from BESarawak, which underscored the noble objective of the donation drive.

The programme, which is an expansive statewide corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative falling under the Tribe Legacy Sarawak campaign by BESarawak, seeks to instil values and create a collective legacy through collaborative efforts.

Reportedly the largest of its kind in the business events industry, the Books Build Legacy programme is committed to promoting literacy, education, and equitable access to reading materials for children in rural Sarawak.
