KUCHING: Borneo Dash Kart, in a pioneering move, has reshaped Kuching city’s entertainment scene with the introduction of rooftop electric go-karting at Aeon Mall.

This visionary initiative not only captivates residents but also enriches the city’s leisure offerings with an adrenaline-pumping activity.

Borneo Dash Kart director Voon Chiun Ping told New Sarawak Tribune that their aim is to invigorate the city by introducing urban and electric go-karting to Kuchingites.

“Our objective is to introduce new experiences to the urban landscape. While there are existing go-kart facilities in Kuching, they are typically situated outside the city centre.”

Asked about their choice of location of Aeon Mall’s rooftop parking, the 28-year-old shared that the mall’s management has expressed interest to turn the rooftop parking space for events.

This collaboration facilitated the establishment of a 415m track, featuring 16 corners and illuminated by neon lights, with over 3,000 tyres serving as track barriers.

Voon also emphasised that their decision to employ electric go-karts aligned with the government’s push towards environmentally friendly transportation solutions.

“Safety remains paramount, with electric go-karts offering distinct advantages over traditional gas-powered counterparts, including enhanced stability and reduced risk of accidents.

“An electric go-kart delivers instant torque as soon as the pedal is pressed. It is particularly beneficial on a track with multiple turns.

“The go-kart also features a distinct pedal design – a red button for reverse and a green button for accelerate. The pedals are also adjustable and the countdown mimics an F1 race setting.”

Borneo Dash Kart currently has 10 electric go-karts, featuring CS7 and CS8 models, offering varying levels of control and performance tailored to drivers’ preferences.

Voon shared that in the coming future, Borneo Dash Kart has plans to introduce ‘couple karts’ and ‘junior karts’, along with increasing the top speed from 35km per hour to 40 km per hour.

In addition, he stated that they are currently developing a mobile app, which will offer customers various access to go-karting.

“Our mobile app is being developed and it will be ready for public download very soon. The mobile app will provide each customer with their username, allowing them to view their track records, competitors, and assigned kart number.

“They can also view racing updates in real-time, see who is currently racing, and check out the fastest racer of the week.

“With the mobile app, the public will be able to book their slots online.”

Currently, Borneo Dash Kart offers two packages – a five-session pass priced at RM260 and 10 + 1 sessions pass priced at RM550, with each session lasting 10 minutes.

On weekdays between 10am and 3.59pm, a 10-minute go-karting session is priced at RM49. From 4pm to 10pm, the price will be RM59.

On weekends and public holidays, the rate will be RM59 per 10-minute session from 10am to 10pm.

The public can access the track on the fourth floor via the mall’s central escalator.
