KUCHING: The installation of water and electricity meters for part of the 377 residential units at the Darul Hana Resettlement Scheme is expected to be completed on Aug 25.

Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said following this, 337 households from three villages would be relocated to Darul Hana and would received their house keys, land titles and compensation payments from Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on Aug 27.

“Earlier, part of the utilities mentioned have been installed but considering that the houses have not been occupied, and the meters for electricity and water were not connected yet.

“In fact, before the installation of the electricity and water meters, there were also cases of vandalism whereby the wiring meter box was affected.

“Therefore, the utilities connection, including installation of streetlights will be completed by Aug 25,” he said.

He told the media this after inspecting a flood mitigation project in Jalan Masjid here today.

Dr Abdul Rahman, who is also the Pantai Damai assemblyman, said the handover of the house keys was supposed to be held on Aug 22. “However, based on the new schedule, the date has been changed to Aug 27.”

Meanwhile, the residents involved in the relocation are from Kampung Panglima Seman Lama, Kampung Semarang and Kampung Lot Tambahan.
