KUCHING: A Borneo Economic Council will be established, with membership comprising representatives from Sarawak, Sabah, Brunei, and various provinces of Kalimantan, including governors.

According to a press release, the proposal was initiated by the Chairman of Indonesia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), Arsjad Rasjid, and was agreed upon at the recently held Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) ASEAN Business Council roundtable meeting in Brunei.

Also in attendance at the roundtable meeting were the Associated Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sarawak (ACCCIS) Vice President Ling Chiong Sing, Kuching Chinese General Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCGCCI) Secretary General Datuk Jonathan Chai Voon Tok and Digital Economy Chairman cum Working Chairman for the 133rd Anniversary Celebration of KCGCCI Rodger Chan Siong Boh.
