BETONG: A seven-year-old boy faced a distressing situation when an iron washer ring became lodged on his finger on Saturday.
Betong fire station chief Vincent Baling Yabi said that they received a distress call from Betong Hospital at 12.47 pm, alerting them to the incident.
Swiftly responding to the call, a three-man team was dispatched to the scene to help the young boy who had been enduring pain after his middle finger swelled up.
The duration of the distress before rescue arrived was not known.
The team used a specialised iron cutter to free the boy from his predicament, completing the operation in a mere four minutes.
Once successfully removed, the child was promptly handed over to Betong Hospital for further medical attention.
