MIRI: A 38-year-old British man died on Saturday night along Jalan Lutong-Kuala Baram after a four-wheel-drive (4WD) he drove went out of control and crashed into a roadside ditch.

The motorcyclist who was slightly injured after his bike collided with the 4WD.

Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said Drew Markham died on the spot due to serious injuries in the 9pm accident.

A team of firemen from Lopeng fire station were deployed to the scene to help extricate the man who was reportedly trapped in his seat after the crash.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Prior to the fatal crash, the British man was involved in a collision with a motorcycle. 

The 54-year-old motorcyclist escaped with light injuries.
