Brunei to take part in Kuching Inter-Cultural Mooncake Festival

KUCHING :   Brunei Darulssalam will be taking part in the 17th Kuching Inter-Cultural Mooncake Festival which will be held from September 17 to 24 (6.30pm to 11pm) at Carpenter Street here.

Co-organising chairman of the festival,  Sim Kiang Chiok said: “Our committee had earlier paid a courtesy call on the Consul  General of Brunei in Sarawak, Pengiran Kartini binti Pengiran Haji Tahir at her office here.

“We made a formal request for the consulate to help facilitate participation of businesses from Brunei. Now, we have received a letter, confirming the participation of two stalls; one will be selling food such as the famous ‘pais’ beef,  snacks and beverages  while the other one will be selling textiles and batik ,” he said.

Simadded the Consul General would be visiting the festival to join in the fun, promote mutual understanding, goodwill and trade among neigbouring countries.

“Apart from Brunei, we are also inviting our friends from Indonesia to participate and we hope this year, we will be able to give the festival a more international and cosmopolitan flair,” said Sim.
