KUCHING: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Deputy Information Chief, Andy Lawrence urged the newly appointed Prime Minister to appoint Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) from Sarawak.

Andy noted that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is a leader who has long recognised Malaysia as a multiracial country, and deemed that every race in Malaysia is his child.

“This is a great opportunity for Prime Minister to create history and appoint a leader from Iban ethnic as your next DPM,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He also pointed out that Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi is the best option to shoulder the responsibility as a DPM.

“He is the right person to become your right-hand man to further strengthen your federal administration with the Sarawak community.

“We believe YAB PM will couple it with critical portfolios such as Finance Minister or Home Minister,” he stressed.

Andy expressed his heartfelt congratulation on Anwar’s appointment as Malaysia’s 10th Prime Minister.

“Congratulation to YAB Datuk Sri Anwar Ibrahim on your appointment as the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia,” he said.
