SIBU: Before we get the federal government to understand our rights better, we need to be one and united by supporting Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

And only then our voice will be loud enough to be heard, said Michael Tiang Ming Tee.

The Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government said that on taking the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) via an individual longhouse loan programme, the state government has allocated RM50 million for it.

“All this while the federal government allocated RM10 million to add to the allocation of RM50 million given by the state government but I think the RM10 million is not enough hence we need to work hard together to give our full support for GPS candidate.

Tiang delivers his speech.

“We only have 31 candidates representing Sarawak; if all of them win in this 15th general election (GE15), we will have a louder voice to fight for our rights in the parliament,” he said in his speech while officiating at the dialogue programme called Program Randau Skim Pinjaman Rumah Panjang HDC 2022 today.

The Pelawan assemblyman noted that one of the objectives for GPS to win big in this GE15 is to fight for more budgets from the federal government.

“We can do this (demand for more allocation) from the federal government as we are entitled for more budgets. Do you know why? It is because we are paying income tax to the federal government. So, we have the right to demand more allocation from them to develop our state, especially the urban areas,” he said.

On the event, Tiang hoped that the people especially Tuai Rumah (longhouse chiefs) will understand the benefit of the state government programme and will fully utilise the opportunity to develop their longhouses.

Also present were Nangka assemblyman Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, GPS Sibu parliamentary candidate Clarence Ting Ing Horh, and others.
