BETONG: Saribas assemblyman Mohammad Razi Sitam called on the state government to put proper surface to the road from Tanjung Assam junction heading to Kampung Buda here.
According to him, the existing 7km gravel road is still uncomfortable to pass through by the villagers because it is dusty when the weather is hot and muddy when it rains.
“I hope the Sarawak government can provide an adequate allocation to upgrade the road for the comfort of road users as well as villagers.
“I have often received complaints from the villagers, so it is most desirable that the road to be resurfaced as soon as possible because it also could help boost agricultural activities and would help to open more economic opportunities to the local residents,” Razi said to the reporters here yesterday.
According to him, it is the government’s responsibility to provide road facilities especially in coastal areas.
Earlier, the Saribas assemblyman inspected the Kampung Buda main road upgrading project which would be implemented this year under the Malaysian Road Records Information System (Marris) fund at a cost of RM200,000.
The project involves paving the road from the end of Kampung Buda to the school area through Betong District Council (MDB) as the implementing agency.
Also present was Betong district officer Sofhi Jebal.
