KUCHING: Traffic congestion near the Jalan Satok flyover early today (Jan 18) was due to a car catching fire.
In the 8am incident, a 36-year-old woman managed to get out after the car she was driving suddenly caught fire in Jalan Kulas.
A spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from the Padungan station were deployed to the scene after receiving an emergency call.
They arrivd to find the vehicle’s engine bay section completely destroyed.
Extinguishing works were promptly carried out and the operation ended around 8.45am.
The cause of the fire and the losses incurred are still under investigation.
