KUCHING: Swift action by owners managed to save their cars from being razed in a fire which broke out during the wee hours today (Dec 8).

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from the Petra Jaya station acted on a distress call from owners of two vehicles at Jalan Tun Muhammad Salahudin.

However, they managed to put out the fire ravaging the Perodua Myvi and Proton Wira before the Fire and Rescue Department officers arrived at the scene, about 7km from the station.

It was reported that the fire caused damages to the Myvi’s engine dashboard as well as the Wira’s trunk and tyres.

The firemen later managed to put out the flames by 4.10am.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
