Cat lovers showcase pets at competition

KUCHING: Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) has attracted cat enthusiasts to the capital city.

North City Hall-Cat Fanciers’ Association (DBKU-CFA) International Cat Show was held at Arcum Tent, Majma Mall here yesterday.

Cat owner Emelia Joseph, 38, from here shared with New Sarawak Tribune her excitement on her first ever participation in such an event.

“This is my first time participating in a cat show and I brought along two of my beloved cats to be in the competition.

“I join this competition just for fun and would like to use this opportunity to show my lovable cats to other people,” she said.

Emelia further commented on the exciting preparations for her cats three days prior to joining the show.

“My cats went for a grooming session but not just any usual grooming, I sent them on an exclusive grooming session to make sure they are at their best looks,” she said.

Following this, she expressed her hopes that cat shows such as this would continue to be organised as it is well received by the locals here.

Meanwhile, one of the judges for the competition, Teo Vargas, 61, from Spain also shared his experience throughout the event and his admiration for Kuching as it is his first visit to the city.

“As a cat lover, the experience has been amazing to participate as a judge and I am excited to have seen different breed of cats here in Asia than the ones I’ve seen from Europe and the United States.

“Also my stay in Kuching has been nothing but delightful, witnessing the culture here and especially the food is just to die for,” he said.
