KUCHING: A British national was manhandled and caught by members of the public in a citizen’s arrest after he behaved in an unruly manner to customers in a coffee shop at Carpenter Street here on Saturday evening.

The male, aged 49, was first seen throwing pieces of wood into the shop from the temple. After being asked to stop doing that, he started brandishing a sharp weapon at the customers.

Worried customers might get hurt in the melee, four members of the public caught him and he was dragged away kicking and struggling with them.

A police report was lodged while the suspect was handed over to the police for further action. Yesterday afternoon at about 12.40pm he was brought to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for some superficial injuries.
