MIRI: The Miri Disaster Management Committee (MDMC) is dedicated to preventing the spread of rabies here.

According to Miri Division Resident Jamalie Busri, the MDMC has taken various measures to raise awareness about the rabies outbreak.

These include conducting talks on rabies in the community and schools, organising a large-scale vaccination program in collaboration with local authorities such as Miri City Council, Subis District Council, and Marudi District Council, as well as efforts to catch and remove stray dogs in the city.

Jamalie said this during a recent MDMC meeting, which he chaired. The purpose of the meeting was to receive reports and updates from each agency regarding the rabies outbreak and fire incidents in the Miri Division.

Regarding fire incidents, he said that the situation is currently under control, although there have been some small fires and cases of open burning.

According to him, the relevant agencies have been effectively handling these incidents by closely monitoring the situation, issuing warnings, and imposing penalties on those who engage in open burning.
