KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has hinted on a new policy to benefit Sarawakians regardless of their background.

“God willing, I will announce this new policy which will be carried out within five years,” he said during a thanksgiving and appreciation ceremony for Satok constituency at Pullman Hotel here on Saturday evening.

Without elaborating further on what the policy is about, he said, the matter was still in the planning stage.

“However, everyone must continue to remain united so that we can carry this out and bring more development to Sarawak,” he said.

He assured that the Sarawak government would continue to be fair to all races and religions in Sarawak.

“I am the chief minister for all and will continue to defend the rights of Sarawak,” he said.

He added that he would develop the state not only in the city area but also the rural areas.

“As the chief minister, I have the responsibility to ensure that development in the state will be done fairly and equitably regardless whether in Satok, Gedong, Tupong, Asajaya or other areas.

“I will develop our state fairly, and when our economy is developed, then Sarawak will experience an increase in investment, employment and indirectly the state’s livelihood will be enhanced,” he pointed out.

On another note, the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman called on all GPS assemblypersons to always stay humble and continue to help the people.

“The people of Sarawak have given a huge mandate to GPS in the 12th state election last year.

“As such, Sarawakias deserve the right to receive the best services for the wellbeing and prosperity of all,” said Abang Johari.
