KUCHING: The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has decided to extend the conditional movement control order (CMCO) in Sarawak in view of the prevailing high number of cases in the state.

In a statement today, they said this two-week extension would be effective from 12.01am on Mar 30 to 11.59pm on April 12.

The committee also announced that the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) would be enforced at two villages in Serian, namely Kampung Chupak and Kampung Batu Gong.

“The EMCO for Kampung Chupak, Serian is effective from 12.01am on Mar 25 to 11.59pm on April 7. The Emco for Kampung Batu Gong, Serian is effective from 12.01am on Mar 26 to 11.59pm on April 8,” they said.

On another matter, they said given that most positive Covid-19 cases involved social gatherings (funerals), the organisation of social ceremonies (funerals) needed to be reported to the nearest District Office.

“In addition, strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) have to be adhered to before carrying out funeral ceremonies. Ketua kaum and ketua masyarakat are also requested to assist in enforcing the SOPs,” said SDMC.
