Come and enjoy Bung Bratak Day on May 1

KUCHING: The Bung Bratak Day is expected to welcome thousands of visitors, some of whom are European tourists.

This Bidayuh annual event, rich with its cultural and historical experience will be on May 1, 2024.

Chairman of the Bung Bratak Heritage Association, Datuk Peter Minos said that the upcoming event will host special Bidayuh cultural dances and music presented by artistes from Kampung Selampit, Kampung Opar and Kampung Serayan.

“This year there will be various groups from different villages showcasing and selling special Bidayuh foods and drinks to visitors.

“There will be traditional games facilitated by participants from Kampung Jugan and from Kampung Krokong area,” he said in a press statement.

“A popular local band, the High Breed, from Kampung Semeba will entertain the crowds with songs and music throughout the event.

“We also have a well-known Sarawakian singer, Claudia Geres, from Kampung Garung Padawan who will belt out her new and old songs,” he said.

Minos welcomed everyone to Bung Bratak Day to enjoy the iconic Bidayuh cultural event, adding that entrance is free for everyone.

“Because of limited parking uphill, visitors are encouraged to make a half-hour trekking,” he cautioned.

Minos added that the Bung Bratak Day will start with a hill climbing competition, the Bratakthon at 6am, however visitors are welcomed by 8am.
