SEBUYAU: The Sarawak government is urged to consider the proposal for the construction of the Sebuyau Esplanade following the construction of the Second Trunk Road (STR) and Batang Lupar Bridge.

Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi said this matter is crucial as it could become one of the tourist attractions in the area.

“I hope that the government will consider building an esplanade near the Batang Lupar Bridge and STR. Perhaps we can elaborate on this matter in the future so that one day this site will become a tourist attraction,” he said.

He said this during his welcoming speech at the Sebuyau district level Hari Raya gathering held at Sebuyau Development Hall here today (Apr 27).

Julaihi, who is also the Sebuyau assemblyman, mentioned that he hopes the government will also assist in providing a mini stadium here.

“This is because our young people are active in sports. I have allocated funds under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) to build futsal fields and such.

“But maybe in addition to this Esplanade, we feel that we need a mini stadium in Sebuyau New Township to meet the needs of young people,” he added.

He said the establishment of a mini stadium will also facilitate active martial arts practitioners in the area to conduct training and related activities.

“Therefore, I hope this matter can be considered because Sebuyau will continue to change in terms of infrastructure,” he explained.

For the record, the proposed area for the esplanade construction is at the end of the Kampung Giat Mara.
