PADAWAN: A construction worker died on the spot after his motorcycle crashed and ended up underneath a lorry along Mile 8, Jalan Penrissen this morning.

SGH paramedics examine the victim at the accident site.

The two-vehicle accident occurred around 8.10am during a drizzle whereby the 53-year-old victim was riding his motorcycle alone.

Sarawak traffic police chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said investigations found that the victim who was in the process of changing lanes, slipped due to wet road and fell onto the left lane.

“Due to the sudden slip, the victim identified as Mohammad Firdaus Abdullah, fell and ended up underneath the right rear tyre of the lorry, which was driven by a 57-year-old man.

“As a result of the incident, the victim suffered severe injuries to his left chest and was pronounced dead at the scene by Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) paramedics,” he explained.

The victim’s body was later taken to the SGH Forensic Unit for post-mortem.

Naga noted that the case is still being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
