MIRI: Enforcement officers from the Royal Customs Department seized contraband beers and cigarettes with unpaid duties totalling over RM12,300 in two separate raids on premises here on Tuesday night.
According to Sarawak Royal Customs Department director Datuk Sharifah Halimah Tuanku Taha, two men were detained to assist in investigations into the cases.
The raids were conducted at Batu 5 Lambir, Jalan Miri-Bintulu, and Sejahtera Desaras 6, Jalan Tudan here.
“A total 15,476 sticks of cigarettes and 63.36 litres of contraband beers were found and seized during the two raids,” she said in a press statement yesterday.
The case is being investigated under Section 135 of the Customs Act 1967.
