SIMUNJAN: A two-day Air Cub Scouts Camp at SK Semangkoi here that was attended by 130 cub scouts was aimed at exposing participants to air scouts training.

Zainuddin officiates at the closing ceremony of the camp.

The participants consisted of cub scouts from here, Samarahan, Serian, Siburan, Matang and Julau Districts.

The early exposure to air scouting was aimed at sparking children’s interest in the aviation industry as well as in the handling of aircraft.

In his speech at the closing ceremony of the camp, Sarawak Scout Chief Commissioner Captain Zainuddin Tan Sri Hamdan, said in the scouting movement, each section has its uniqueness and that the air scout unit offers its own training scheme which besides training members in scouting, also gives scouts knowledge on aviation and aircraft handling.

“Air cub scouts who undergo basic training have the opportunity to understand a very prestigious field that they can venture into when they become adults,” he said.

He hoped that the cub scouts exposed to this air scout training would be able to understand the fast-growing aviation industry that needs a large workforce over time.
