Darul Hana Bridge brings pride to Sarawakians

KUCHING: Every day since its official opening to the public almost a month ago, Darul Hana Bridge, located at the Waterfront here saw people from all walks of life taking the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful scenic landmark.

New Sarawak Tribune managed to interview some of those who have visited the bridge. Valery Saing Edward, 21 said that it was the first time she and her family walk on the Darul Hana Bridge and were very excited by the beauty of the bridge, especially with the colourful lights along the bridge. “On my way back from the bridge, I can feel the bridge sway slightly,” he said.

He opined that the structure and design of the bridge is unique and beautiful and could make Kuching Waterfront look more alive and attract more tourist and visitors. Liana Batin, 22, said she feels happy to see so many people walk along the bridge. “As I walked along and stood midway of the bridge, I suddenly felt a little terrified because I felt the bridge swaying,” she said but despite that the beautiful sight still amazed her.

“I hope there will be more projects such as this bridge to attract more locals and tourists to our beautiful state ,” she added. Naslina, 25, said she came to the bridge on the second day after its official opening. “It was really a fun and exiciting experience for me but somewhere in the middle of the bridge, I could feel the bridge swaying,” she said.

She said the bridge looks beautiful especially at night and feel proud of it as it attracts everyone including the tourists. Sherlyvia, 22, she was proud and excited as Sarawak becomes more developed and the bridge is one of the state’s success. “I felt happy when i walked on the bridge but I also felt dizzy at the same time as the bridge was swaying,” she added.

She suggested that the government should place more safety features at the bridge. “Maybe, the bridge needs safety nets installed along the bridge and also litter-bins for the convenience of the public to dispose rubbish instead of littering the bridge,” she said.
