KUCHING: Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka Malaysia (DBP) is dedicating the December issue of Dewan Masyarakat to spotlight Sarawak’s remarkable strides in green economic development.

This dedication serves as a token of appreciation and respect for Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s instrumental role in steering the state towards a sustainable and environmentally friendly economy.

“At DBP, we deeply value and commend the Premier’s economic development agenda, particularly his vision for green economy initiatives.

“Having engaged with the Premier on multiple occasions, Abang Johari’s idea is not merely theoretical but rooted in extensive research and study visits to European countries.

“There is no other state in Malaysia that is heading in this direction. Evidently, the Premier has a forward-thinking perspective, moving beyond conventional economy models to embrace a green economy,” said DBP director-general Dr Hazami Jahari.

He made these remarks when visiting New Sarawak Tribune and Suara Sarawak CEO Datuk Dr Jeniri Amir at his office here on Wednesday (Nov 8).

Hazami further remarked that outside of Sarawak, there is a perception of the Premier’s vision being undervalued, almost as if the state’s residents are regarded as second-class citizens.

However, through political stability, solid leadership, and a transparent and open economic development agenda, it has propelled Sarawak ahead in various aspects.

“Beginning with the late Tun Abdul Rahman Yakub, followed by Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, and welcomed by the late Pehin Sri Adenan Satem, who united the races in the state, and finally strengthened by Abang Johari, we see that Sarawak is already in a class of its own,” he noted.
