TATAU: The Disaster Operations Room at the Tatau District Office will be activated in preparation for the anticipated prolonged northeast monsoon season.

Tatau District Officer Jabang Juntan said that every agency must always prioritise their own safety to ensure smooth execution of processes and tasks.

“The Disaster Operations Room here will be activated in preparation for the anticipated prolonged northeast monsoon season.

“The Muput Bridge, damaged due to floods, has been temporarily repaired, allowing only small vehicles to go through.

“So far, several schools such as SK Nanga Tau and SK Sangan Iban are in preparedness for any flooding ,” he said during the Tatau District Disaster Management Committee meeting recently.

On a related note, Jabang said that the Temporary Evacuation Center (PPS) at Rumah Steven Jeli was officially opened on January 18.

“A total of 55 victims from 27 families of SK Kuala Muput staff affected by the flood have been placed at the PPS Rumah Steven Jeli,” he added.

Meanwhile, several agencies such as the Social Welfare Department, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM) also provided briefings and presented preparations in terms of logistics and assets during the meeting.
