District mosque to get RM1.5m upgrade

SARATOK: The government is finalising the project design to upgrade the Al-Muhtadin Mosque for which a special allocation has been made available by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri said improvements would be made to the district mosque, which can accommodate 1,800 worshippers, and was built at a cost of RM10.5 million in 2019.

“We in Saratok are lucky because the Premier of Sarawak has approved the Projek Rakyat to beautify the Al-Muhtadin Mosque.

“Now we are finalising the project which will involve the construction of a tower, provision of additional parking and upgrading the emergency door,” he said after chairing a discussion on the proposed project worth RM1.5 million here.

Chairman of the Saratok Islamic Welfare Trust Board (Lakis) Datuk Abdul Wahab Aziz, Saratok District Officer Haron Mahidi, Chairman of the Masjid al-Muhtadin Saratok Management Committee Yusuf Trang, Saratok District Commissioner Sahari Gani and Penghulu Rajali Bujang and Penghulu Muntil Morshidi were also present.
