PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has  never contacted any party through a letter to close any corruption case, its  Deputy Chief Commissioner (Operations) Datuk Seri Azam Baki said.

He said the MACC had received 11 complaints from the public who had been deceived by the fake letter lately.

“The MACC hopes the public will be more sensitive and share this information with the community around them so that they will not be deceived by the fake letter,” he said in a statement here today.

Azam was commenting on the letter purportedly from the MACC Investigation Division Head regarding an offer of RM50,000 to a bitcoin account to close a case.

He advised the public who received any dubious letter to seek verification from any MACC office by calling 1-800-88-6000 and at the addresses posted on its official portal www.sprm.gov.my. – Bernama
