MIRI: Do not “wait and see” but register early for vaccination of the Covid-19.

This is the message for the public here from Miri City mayor Adam Yii Siew Yang pertaining to the next phase of the National Immunisation Programme that will commence in early next month.

According to the registration for vaccination programme through MySajahtera Application, only 25,492 have registered so far out of the expected 273,330.

The numbers are worrisome and far too low on the response or interest in the registration.

He said that the public could easily register for vaccination using MySejahtera Application. Apart from that there are other ways to register such as through Miri City Council’s Resident Committees (RC) (Jawatankuasa Penduduk); Miri district office; through government appointed local community leaders like Kapitan, Penghulu or they can go to the closest government health clinic (klinik kesihatan).

He also added that he himself had received vaccination in early March and he did not experience any discomfort during and after the vaccination.

He advised Mirians not to listen to any negative hearsay about the vaccination.

They should obtain information on the vaccination programme from the authorities and reliable sources.

He said that it is proven safe and effective for injection of vaccines in humans to activate the body immune system against deadly diseases and virus.

For the past 200 years, vaccines have eradicated or contained pandemic for many infectious diseases such as smallpox, yellow fever, polio, measles and others, Yii pointed out.
