Dr Annuar to launch My Malaysia Day Exhibition

SIBU: Find time to visit the My Malaysia Day Exhibition organised by Pustaka Negeri Sarawak in conjunction with Malaysia Day celebration here from Sept 10 to Sept 30.

The Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) is also involved in orgainsing the event.

A spokesperson for Pustaka Negeri Sarawak said the exhibition will be launched by Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Dr Annuar Rapaee today.

The exhibition will feature local artists with artworks.

“This is to showcase the talent of local artists in expressing their art to celebrate Malaysia Day and raise awareness about its (Malaysia Day) importance through various activities and programmes,” he said.

On the same day, Dr Annuar will also officiate at the launch of the Ethnic Mural Project which was initially planned for Oct 2021 with mural artist Aries Kong (aka Jagung) who is famous for his mural works throughout Sarawak.

“The mural features four ethnicities representing the central region, namely Malay, Chinese, Iban, and Melanau which were sourced by Kong himself.

“This project took about 26 days in total, from Dec 15, 2021 to Jan 14, 2022,” he said.

He said the 2.4m high and 11.5m long mural was produced entirely by hand using Mtn94 and Montana Gold spray paint with photo-realistic and motion blur art style.
