Dual carriageway project to begin next year

ASAJAYA: The dual carriageway project from the Batang Samarahan Bridge to the Batang Sadong Bridge will begin next year.

Asajaya assemblyman Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said its implementation comes under the Second Trunk Road (STR) project and has been awarded to Hock Seng Lee Berhad (HSL).

“There are many development projects being carried out in the Asajaya area, including road upgrading projects.

“Next year, the construction of the dual carriageway from the Batang Samarahan Bridge to the Batang Sadong Bridge will also begin,” he said.

He said this during a press conference after officiating at the Sunathon 2.0 2023 Programme, at An-Najah Mosque, Asajaya here today (Dec 17).

He added that development projects are being implemented continuously in the Asajaya area, including a flood mitigation canal at a cost of RM300 million

“This project also connects Batang Samarahan and Batang Sadong as well as Tambirat River Bank Phase 2 which is worth more than RM100 million.

“There are also other small projects implemented such as a flood mitigation system in coastal villages to solve erosion and high tide problems, widening access roads in all villages and installing street lights.

“For the street lighting project, it is being installed on protocol roads and important areas such as jetties, houses of worship or areas frequented by local residents at night,” he said.
