KUCHING: Datuk Liaw Soon Eng has officially handed over duties as Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneurs Development permanent secretary.

Effective Friday (Oct 1), Entrepreneur Development Division head Dzulkornian Masron will assume responsibility.

The handover ceremony was witnessed by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, and Assistant Entrepreneur Development, Small and Medium Enterprises Minister Datuk Naroden Majais as well as ministry officials, on Thursday (Sept 30).

Liaw has over 41 years of experience in the Sarawak civil service, and started out as an administrative officer at Kanowit District Office in 1979.

He was appointed as the ministry’s permanent secretary from June 9, 2009 until Sept 30 this year.

He has experience specifically in industrial and entrepreneurship, and has successfully helped secure investments in the manufacturing sector.

Among the outstanding achievements of the ministry during his tenure were AKPANS Gold Medal Accountability Index (5 Star Rating), Treasury Inspectorate (5 Star Rating), Scorecard Management (100 per cent Score) and Mintred Website (5 Star Rating).
