KUCHING: Yayasan Sarawak is committed to spreading information about educational opportunities in Sarawak through an expo.

In stating this, Yayasan Sarawak director Mersal Abang Rosli said that through the expo, they wanted school leavers, students, parents, and the general public to get the latest information about educational opportunities for students to further their studies, as well as sponsorship opportunities provided by them.

“Alhamdulillah, by working together with 45 district offices and 30 district education offices (PPD) statewide to organise outreach programmes, they have shown positive effects not only in terms of the number of admissions to educational and skill institutions but also in terms of the amount of sponsorship and assistance.

“What is important to us (in this kind of programme) is that the students, especially those in rural and suburban areas, continue to benefit by being able to seize the available opportunities to further their education.

“We don’t want to see students unable to continue their studies just because of financial constraints. Yayasan Sarawak is always ready to help them, especially in entering state-owned institutions such as Swinburne University of Technology, Curtin University, University of Technology Sarawak (UTS), i-CATS University College, Kolej Laila Taib (KLT), Sarawak Skills, and Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS),” he said.

He said this at the Sarawak Education Expo officiating ceremony at the Yayasan Sarawak here today (July 8).

Following this, he called on all school leavers who are interested in continuing their studies to join the said institutions if they are unable to continue their studies in public higher education institutions.

“Today’s expo is very important in our efforts to provide counselling and guidance services so that every student can get the right advice and information.

“There are many options available; make the most of this opportunity. Now that they are at your location, make the most of this golden opportunity.

Together, we build your career with the support of Yayasan Sarawak,” he said.

For the record, the expo was held in 45 other districts simultaneously.
