Car crashes into fast-food restaurant front

SIBU: A fatal road accident occurred today (Dec 26) at the Shell petrol station at Ling Kai Cheng road, resulting in the death of the 90-year-old driver.

The incident took place around 9.30 am when an elderly local resident, who was driving the car, reportedly lost control while exiting the petrol station. The car then collided with the front door of a nearby fast-food restaurant.

Emergency response teams quickly arrived at the scene, and bystanders on-site promptly transported the injured driver to Sibu Hospital.

Regrettably, the victim succumbed to their injuries at 10.16 am on the same day.

The Sibu District Police Headquarters has begun an investigation into the incident under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, focusing on reckless driving as the cause of the tragic fatality.
